Described by the UN as being amongst the most persecuted community in the world, the Rohingya people saw more than 125,000 members internally displaced by the end of 2012 alone.
The Rakhine state is one of the most impoverished and densely populated areas of Myanmar (Burma), and the waves of violence in the region have worsened conditions substantially. Local communities are in dire need of food, shelter, healthcare and safe drinking water.
So far, thousands of homes have benefited from various distributions of hygiene packs, mosquito nets, blankets, clothes and non food items. Yet the Rohingya people still need our help. With 75,000 people still displaced, this Ramadan it's essential for us to support them with healthcare, shelter, food and water.
